Yoga therapy supports individuals through a wide variety of health challenges such as chronic pain, fibromyalgia, regaining mobility after injury, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, insomnia and more.
Many discover yoga therapy after they’ve tried other forms of treatments without success. Yoga Therapy is complementary to other treatment like physiotherapy, chiropractor, psychotherapy/counselling, and massage therapy. Yoga Therapy looks at the person as whole instead of flawed or broken, meeting the individual where they are to support their personal health challenge and goals.
Sessions include a detailed intake form to gain your personal history, a postural and functional movement assessment to see where there may be opportunity for stretch and strength, and exploration of yoga practices based on your health challenges and needs.
At follow up sessions, the student and yoga therapist work together to explore practices that support their personal path towards healing. Practices can include movement and asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), somatics (gentle movement with breath), mantra (positive affirmation), mudras (energetic healing) meditation, visualization and sound.
