My back pain began in my late teens, as a result of a dance injury. The pain persisted, and I had to quit dance, which was my passion and outlet. I tried many forms of treatment (chiropractor, physiotherapy, private pilates, etc). The pain continued for a decade and I was told that I would need to live with the pain for the rest of my life. It was devastating.
I was pointed in the direction of yoga by a friend. I wasn't sold on it at first, but over time, I started to notice that there was a correlation between practicing yoga and less pain. The more I practiced yoga, the less treatment I was requiring, and my back pain was decreasing. My stress levels also became more manageable.
